This game is not geomorphic - the central tile area has 19 hexes fixed on 6 board pieces of a smaller size than the regular game and the numbers are fixed. The cards are of a smaller format than in a regular game and the playing pieces are made of plastic. The Gallery Edition series is being designed for the "not-a-gamer" family market, people who are likely to play a game only a couple of times a year. The goal of this line of product is simple - to gently introduce the Mayfair style of gaming to a broader market. The perception of value for the core lines remains high, and the quality of this game is maintained. Mayfair will be advertising other Catan products around the box base, and promoting other games and the website within.

| I've been playing Catan for a couple of months now and have really enjoyed it. It's a game of building roads and settlements/cities, spending earned resources (wool, wheat, ore, brick, etc) to do so. It is attractively designed and easy to set up. |
