For fans of Risk, this is an excellent variant that changes much of the core rules and adds a lot of thematic entertainment. Lord of the Rings Risk is a four player max game where two players control "good" armies and two control "evil" armies - a three player game can also be good fun, with compensation integrated for the shorthanded side. Comes with ring.

This is a very good version of Risk that includes rewards for short term goals, defensive bonuses and other game enhancing mechanics. I like the fact that there is a built-in time limit as well.
