TransAmerica (Includes Vexation expansion)   (View Game)

Another train game you say? Not quite. While route building is the core of the game, the semi-random route requirements and multiple plays per "game" are interesting vaiations. Luck is present but mitigated it scales very well to adults (with the Vexation expansion) or kids (without). If I could only own 10 games, this would be one of them.

Great use of modular board that truly makes each game unique. The fact that the board is built as you go and only when the lead racer needs it is pure genius. Frequently, it's better to be in 2nd or 3rd place and make your move once you see in which direction the river turns. Excellent gateway game that never fails to please.

Battleball   (View Game)

The components are excellent and the dice rolling mechanic is unique and balanced. However the game seemed slow to me and didn't represent the fast pace of american football. It's still a good game, but one of careful analysis and playing the odds rather than fast action.

Dos Rios - Valley of Two Rivers   (View Game)
   jacob4408
While the modular board ensures a slightly different layout each play, the real genius of this game is in the ability to redirect the two rivers (dos rios) during the game with dams. Keeping your farms watered while denying water to the other players is a fun and neverending challenge.
